Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy

(Students who plan to transfer a completed associate degree should review the Environmental Science and Policy Completion Degree information below)

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy (ES&P) degree is an interdisciplinary STEM program that draws upon undergraduate course offerings from the College of Health Professions and Natural Sciences, as well as the Colleges of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Technology, and Business. Students will acquire the requisite skills to preserve and protect the limited and fragile natural resources in the state of Delaware and beyond.

The ES&P degree is practical, career-oriented, and a springboard for graduate education. Aligned with the University’s mission of providing exemplary career-oriented degrees, graduates can market themselves to local, state, and federal agencies; private and non-profit organizations; and academia, for a range of environmental science positions.

Students may complete courses face-to-face, online, hybrid. Face-to-face courses are offered at a variety of locations and times. All courses are taught by highly qualified faculty who are practitioners in the field.

Program Competencies

In addition to the University’s undergraduate graduation competencies, students will:

1.  Apply the scientific method to answer environmental science questions;

2.  Demonstrate proficiency with basic laboratory skills;

3.  Formulate policy recommendations based on scientific and stakeholder data;

4.  Evaluate quantitative and qualitative environmental science data;

5.  Appraise environmental science and biodiversity concepts to determine the environmental impact;

6.  Analyze cell and molecular processes to determine mechanisms of evolution;

7.  Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
